General Information(Visa)

General requirements for Visas are:

  • Apply for visa online at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/  and submit the printed visa application at visa counter of Embassy of India, Yangon.
  • NRC and Household copy and English notarial translation of same
  • Passport Original and copy
  • Surname not required for Myanmar Citizens
  • Please make sure that Passport No, Type of Visa, Duration of Visa and No of Entry columns are filled accurately in the online application form.
  • The pilgrimage groups will need to accompanied by local representative when they come to the Embassy to give Biometric ID.
  • Two recent 2”x2” sized photographs
  • Minimum passport validity of six months.
  • At least one blank page in the passport for affixing visa sticker.
  • All Visa charges are payable in US dollars (Cash) only charged.
  • All non-Myanmar Nationals are requested to check with the Visa Section for additional requirements and visa fee.
  • Issue of visa is solely dependent on availability of high-speed internet connection and cannot be expedited for any reason particularly issued departure flight tickets of visa applicants
  • Please note that if there is a mistake in Passport No or name while submitting the hard copy of the visa application at the visa counter it cannot be amended by the visa desk and the visa applicant would have to submit a new visa application online again with the amendment and then submit the hard copy of the visa application at the visa counter. Kindly also note that the visa fee once collected for the visa application with incorrect name and/or passport no. cannot berefunded or transferred for the new visa application due to file system limitations.

Tourist Visa

Air Tickets of journey to and from
 

Business Visa

A letter of invitation from Indian company inviting the applicant, India company registration and evidence of local business and details of Myanmar Company.

Student Visa/Research Visa

a) Documents certifying confirmed admission in Indian educational institution.
b) An undertaking from a sponsor in India that he will bear all expenses in case of necessity and a bank statement to prove sufficiency of funds for providing guarantee.

Medical Visa

A medical certificate from local doctor certifying requirement for medical treatment in
India or a letter from medical institution in India certifying that applicant is undergoing
treatment in India.

Employment Visa

A letter of appointment from the Indian employer and certificate that employment is
being offered to the applicant to utilize special skills not available in India.

Conference Visa

The conference should be organized by a government Ministry/Department/
Undertaking and has the clearance of Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of
Home and concerned State Government.

General Information(Visa)

1. Myanmar Diplomatic and Official passport holders are exempted from visa requirements if their period of stay/visit in India does not exceed more than 90 days after date of entry into India. Diplomatic and Official Passport holders who need visa beyond 90 days must obtain visa from Embassy.

2. Applicants who have been granted Student/Research/Medical/Employment visas have to comply with registration formalities at the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of their arrival in India. 3. Applicants who have been granted long term visas (i.e more than 180 days), also have to register with the nearest FRRO office, if their stay in India is likely to exceed more than 180 days.

4. As per the latest guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT), Government of India, illegal use of Thuraya Satellite Phone is not permitted in India. Unauthorized use violates section 4 of Indian Telegraphic Act 1885 and the violator can be penalized and the device would be detained/confiscated as per the existing procedures till the time the holder of the device is able to produce a license issued by the DOT.

As per the existing guidelines of Ministry of Home Affairs, carrying satellite phones by foreigners into India is banned.
