Training Institutions
Training Institutions Set up in MYANMAR with INDIAN Assistance
The Government of India has also been involved in setting up four training institutions in Myanmar in collaboration with local partners. The institutions are:
Myanmar-India Entrepreneurship Development Centre (MIEDC):The Centre established in the year 2009 (February) has been set up with the technical assistance of EDII, Ahmedabad and financial support from Government of India in the year 2009(February) and functions under the administrative control of the Yangon Institute of Economics. Main training programmes offered are the New Enterprise Creation, Performance Improvement Programmes, Corporate Development Programme and Training of Trainers and Teachers. As on December 2012, 5115 participants benefitted through various activities of MIEDC, out of this 3251 participants attended MIEDC training programmes.
Myanmar-India Centre for English Language Training (MICELT):Thecentre set up in the year 2009(November) with technical assistance from the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad and financial support from Government of India is functioning under the administrative control of the University of Foreign Languages, Yangon. It provides training in proficiency of English language, Official and Business Communications. It has run courses in INSET teacher training programmes at the certificate level and test prep programme for students appearing for IELTS. As of date, more than 400 students have been trained at this centre.
India-Myanmar Centre for Enhancement of IT Skills (IMCELTS):Thecentre set up in the year 2008(October) with the help of C-DAC, Pune and financial support from Government of India is functioning under the administrative control of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of Myanmar. The Centre provides training in courses of Java programming, MS.NET programming and wireless and Mobile computing. So far, 1400 students have been trained at this centre.
India -Myanmar Industrial Training Centre, Pakkoku:Thecentre has been set up by HMT (I) Ltd. and financial support from Government of India and with the support from the Ministry of Industry, Myanmar Government to develop skilled labour for Myanmar’s budding industrial sector. From July 2010, trainings offered by the centre are machinists-turners, machinists-millers, CNC machinists, industrial electricians, electronics mechanics, heat treatment workers, automobile mechanics, sheet metal and welding workers and TIG/MIG welding workers. So far, 409 persons have been trained at the centre.
India-Myanmar Industrial Training Centre, Myingyan:A similar Center is set up at Myingyan with financial assistance from Government of India and Tech. assistance from HMT(I) Ltd.
Myanmar Institute of Information Technology (MIIT), Mandalay: Established in 2015, Myanmar Institute of Information Technology (MIIT) is an initiative under the friendship project between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the Republic of India. Located in Mandalay, Myanmar and with a focused objective to transform higher education in Myanmar, MIIT is home to students from across the nation. Offering undergraduate programmes in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), it is a place for young minds to experience a transformative journey through learning.
Advance Centre for Agricultural Research and Education (ACARE): Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of India and the Government of the Republic of Union of Myanmar for ACARE was signed on 28th May 2012. Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) is responsible for training, monitoring, curriculum, procurement of equipment and setting up of laboratories and providing full time on-site Advisor for 5 years. ACARE shall benefit all the stakeholders of Myanmar agriculture through enhancement in agricultural production and productivity, enhancing agricultural income, improved employment opportunities and creating a pool of skilled agricultural scientists and managers. President of India has dedicated the Centre to people of Myanmar on December 12, 2018 during his State Visit to Myanmar.
